LED track light UKCA certification process and cycle

The UKCA (British Conformity Assessment) mark is a certification mark for British products after Brexit. Products sold in the UK (England, Wales and Scotland) market must obtain UKCA certification. It covers most of the products that previously required CE certification.

1. The mandatory use of the UKCA mark will be enforced on January 1, 2021.

Manufacturers need to immediately apply the new UKCA mark to products sold in the UK from January 1, 2021. The UK encourages manufacturers to prepare as soon as possible before this date in order to use the UKCA mark.

2. The transition period from CE marking to UKCA marking: before January 1, 2022

In order to allow companies time to adapt to the new requirements, in most cases, manufacturers can still use the CE mark before January 1, 2022. After the transition period expires, the UKCA certification is mandatory.

3. The conditions for using the new UKCA mark immediately after January 1, 2021 are as follows:

All products put on the UK market

Various products protected by laws involving the UKCA mark.

The product requires mandatory third-party conformity assessment,

The conformity assessment of products is carried out by the British Conformity Assessment Agency (British accredited body, accredited third-party organization or user inspection agency-collectively referred to as UK accredited body).

Four, UKCA certification process

The UKCA certification process is the same as the EU CE certification process, generally divided into the following six steps:

1. Determine applicable British regulations and standards

2. Self-verification of product compliance

3. Determine whether a British Notified Body is required to conduct a conformity assessment

4. Detect product compliance

5. Save the required technical documents

6. The product pastes the UKCA logo and issues the UKCA DoC

5. About the UKCA logo

1. The UKCA mark is applicable to most (but not all) products of the current CE marking scheme.

2. The rules of the UKCA logo basically copy the EU’s CE logo rules. That is: the UKCA logo is also based on the principle of the manufacturer's declaration of conformity. Products that can be CE marked based on self-declaration can also be marked as UKCA based on self-declaration.

3. Products marked by UKCA are only applicable to the UK market. Products that currently require the CE mark will continue to use the CE mark when entering the EU market.

4. The rules for using the UKCA mark are the same as the CE mark: that is, it must be marked on the product by the manufacturer or its representative, not less than 5mm, to ensure clear visibility, must be based on a full set of technical documents and UKDoC, and can be presented to the authorities at any time.
