UL simplified the labeling requirements for lighting products and canceled the annual label fee
UL issued an announcement on December 1, 2020, simplifying the process for UL labeling requirements for lighting products, and controlling label inventory and management through label self-purchasing, without paying annual label fees.
Lighting products CCN:
Starting from January 1, 2021, the above lighting CCNs marked with * asterisks will no longer need to use laser labels. In addition, all the above-mentioned lighting CCN designs and methods of printing UL certification marks will transition to a more streamlined process. Manufacturers will be able to print UL certification labels at their factories or order UL labels from UL authorized label suppliers.
Please refer to www.ul.com/lightinglabels for important label purchasing instructions, as well as the latest guidance and background information on label transitions.
Starting from July 1, 2021, the UL certification mark will be printed on non-laser labels using the Enhanced UL certification mark. During the transition period from January 1 to June 30, 2021, all affected UL FUS procedures will be updated to remove references to lasers and traditional UL marks (such as UL listing marks and UL classification marks). Manufacturers can continue to use stocked lasers and traditional labels until they are used up or until June 30, 2021, whichever comes first.
After July 1, 2021, UL field engineers will review the label inventory and confirm the disposal of all remaining labels. Unused labels cannot be refunded or replaced.
Until December 31, 2022, the traditional UL mark is still allowed to continue to be used on product packaging in order to exhaust existing inventory and redesign materials.
Starting from January 1, 2023, all packaging and accompanying documents of products that use the enhanced UL certification mark must also use promotional tags.
From now to January 1, 2021, manufacturers need to continue to use existing labels. Manufacturers are encouraged to start planning as soon as possible how to transition to printing or ordering enhanced UL certification marks.
