DLC releases the first draft of plant light V2.0
On May 7, 2020, DLC released the first draft of the V2.0 standard for plant lights. It is planned to release the final version of the standard in September 2020 and start implementation on January 4, 2021.
ZCT International Certification will continue to pay attention to the new trends of DLC and share new information with you in a timely manner.
Update points of plant lamp V2.0 draft
The update of plant lights V2.0 will continue to promote the transition of the industry from traditional lighting indicators to specialized LED plant lighting indicators to better represent the performance of LED plant lighting.
The first draft of Plant Light V2.0 contains 6 update points.
01丨Plan to increase the minimum efficiency requirements
DLC plans to increase the photosynthetic photon efficiency of PPE to ≥2.10μmol/J in the V2.0 standard, and the original -5% tolerance remains unchanged, that is, the PPE of the product is required to reach at least 2.0μmol/J.
The new limit requirements are based on the analysis of all QPL products listed in order to maintain the top 85% of the products in the QPL can meet the new requirements.
02丨Revision of term description to comply with ASABE (S640)
DLC has updated some defined terms to be consistent with the definitions of American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) ANSI/ASABE S640: Quantities and Units of Electromagnetic Radiation for Plants (Photosynthetic Organisms).
03丨Revision safety certification needs to comply with UL 8800
The V2.0 standard requires plant lighting products to obtain an ANSI/UL 8800 (ANSI/CAN/UL/ULC 8800) safety certificate issued by the OSHA NRTL or SCC accreditation body.
04丨Revision of the PPID and SQD data requirements for the TM-33-18 file format
In the V2.0 standard, DLC will require PPID and SQD data in the TM-33-18 file format.
All new applications and renewal applications will be required to provide PPID and SQD data derived from the ANSI/IES TM-33-18 standard, and the data should be provided by an accredited laboratory.
All applications before the implementation of the new V2.0 standard must provide updated PPID and SQD data before December 2021, otherwise the network will be withdrawn.
05丨Introduce Family series application
DLC is collecting opinions and suggestions on adding Family series applications to plant lighting.
Family series applications are designed to reduce the burden of testing and reduce the application fee for listing all product models. If the worst-case scenario in a Family can meet the requirements, other models do not need to do all the test items.
The product is defined as a Family requirement:
a) The LEDs used in all products must be the same;
b) If it contains different spectral distributions, it will be split into multiple sub-groups for testing and application;
c) The SQD data of all products should be the same, otherwise they will be split into different families for testing and application;
d) All products must be expandable or modular to use the same LED, and all electronics, optics, heat dissipation and any other structures should be the same or similar, and the materials used should be the same;
e) The application must list the complete product model and clearly state all the accessories and options of the product;
f) A model name can only correspond to one brand, if the product is sold under multiple brand names, different brand names are required to have different model names.
06丨Introduction of private labeling listing application
DLC is collecting opinions and suggestions on adding Private Label listing application to plant lighting.
The Private Label listing application aims to allow different company names and different brand names to list existing plant light products on the QPL. Based on the fact that the products are exactly the same, the listing application will not require additional testing and the application fee will be reduced, simplifying the entire application review process.
Notes for Private Label listing application:
a) Only if the original OEM application has been completed, the listing application can be submitted. The product information of the listing application needs to be consistent with the original OEM application;
b) In the Family listing application, at least one model must correspond to the parent model in the OEM application.
If you do not want to apply for an OEM parent model, you need to test the worst case of the family listed models and use this model as the parent model.
